Hyperliquid (HYPE) traded flat over the past 24 hours, edging up +0.05% to $77.749 as price action compressed directly above key technical support.1 2 Ecosystem momentum was supported by NEAR Protocol's rollout of cross-margin trading powered by Hyperliquid, alongside a 130,000 HYPE treasury accumulation by Hyperliquid Strategies.1 3 However, muted spot volume and cautious institutional demand have offset gains, keeping the token consolidated despite a solid $1.6B in open interest and a neutral funding rate.1 2
HYPE is the native utility token of the Hyperliquid blockchain, a layer one (L1) distributed ledger system designed to support decentralized financial applications and services. As the foundational cryptocurrency of the Hyperliquid ecosystem, HYPE facilitates transactions, network operations, and governance functions across the platform. The token has a maximum supply of 1 billion units, establishing a fixed monetary policy for the network. Hyperliquid itself operates as a comprehensive blockchain infrastructure supporting various financial services including spot trading, lending and borrowing protocols, real world asset tokenization, and a full Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible execution environment. The platform was conceptualized with the goal of providing transparent, efficient, and technologically advanced infrastructure for decentralized finance, drawing parallels to how electronic trading systems modernized traditional financial markets in the early 2000s. HYPE's role within this ecosystem encompasses incentivizing network participants, enabling smart contract interactions, and serving as the primary medium of exchange for activities conducted on the Hyperliquid network.
